Bakery Assistant

Food Trades Assistant – Bakery – Wanaka

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable team member to join our Bakery department and be part of a fast-paced and exciting world of baking.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about food, enjoys working with their hands, and wants to grow their skills in a bakery environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A genuine interest in baking and food preparation 
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn 
• The ability to work night shifts (5 days per week, 12:00 am – 9:00 am) 
• A good level of English for communication and safety purposes 
• The ability to handle physical work, including lifting up to 20 kg (flour sacks and bakery ingredients) 

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and baking products following recipes and baker instructions 
• Packing, labelling, and presenting fresh bakery products for sale 
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality 
• Providing excellent customer service and supporting the wider team when needed

As an accredited employer, we may be able to offer sponsorship for this role. However, applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a bakery, kitchen, or supermarket retail environment, in line with INZ requirements.
