Grocery Category Manager - PAK'nSAVE Timaru

 

Our Category Managers don't just manage stock. They anticipate demand, build supplier partnerships and drive performance.

 

This role is about much more than placing orders. It's about understanding our customers, spotting trends, managing inventory effectively and making smart commercial decisions that deliver full shelves, sharp pricing and happy customers.

 

As a Category Manager you will:

 

  • Manage purchasing across all Grocery categories using SAP
  • Analyse data to make informed buying, ranging and promotional decisions
  • Monitor category performance and identify opportunities to improve sales, margin and product availability
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate for the best outcomes for both our store and customers
  • Coordinate promotional activity and ensure it is executed effectively in store
  • Work closely with our retail operations team to deliver a great shopping experience

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Previous buying experience within an FMCG, wholesale or inventory-driven environment
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills
  • Experience using SAP or similar purchasing and inventory management systems 
  • Excellent supplier relationship and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of personal accountability
  • A love of spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of the Grocery Supply Code would be an advantage.

 

Hours: 

 

This is a full-time role (42.5 hours per week): 

 

Sunday – Thursday, including an early start on Monday (5:00am) Hours will be discussed at the interview stage.
