Checkout 3IC - New World Rangiora
We are seeking a permanent full-time Checkout 3IC to join our friendly Checkout team. This position requires previous supermarket checkout experience along with the capability to handle additional responsibilities.
The Checkout 3IC role is a varied one and involves solely overseeing Checkout operations in their entirety during allocated periods, working alongside other senior team members and carrying out hands on work with all team members. Our Checkout operation includes managing Checkouts and Self-Service, as well as Lotto, Coffee and the Customer Service desk.
The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate that they can operate under pressure during busy periods, are able to communicate effectively and display the ability to adapt under prevailing circumstances.
Experience in checkout operation, staff training and customer service is advantageous, and holding an LCQ, or being able to gain one, is an essential part of this role.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that excellent Customer Service is delivered
- Supervising the team and communicating directives from the department manager
- Opening (7.30am) and closing (9pm) checkouts
- Carrying out normal checkout duties such as till operation, packing bags, monitoring self-service checkouts, Lotto sales, coffee making
- Supervising the sale of restricted age items such as alcohol, tobacco and lotto
- Managing the daily team rosters including arranging cover, organising breaks and ensuring all department job responsibilities are being carried out
- Flexibility to work additional days and hours to help with cover as required
- Training of staff in checkout operations, packing, Lotto and coffee making

The days and hours will be discussed at the interview however this position will offer 5 permanent shifts per week on a Tuesday to Saturday roster. The rostered hours of work are mixed throughout the week however do include an opening (7.30am) and closing (9pm) shift. Additional hours or change of shift will be required from time to time to cover staff training, illness and leave for supervisors and senior team members.
