Full time: 32 – 40 hours

We are looking for a friendly person with excellent customer service skills and proven leadership experience to join and help to lead our busy checkout team while supporting our Checkout Manager as the Checkout 2IC.

 

The days of work for this role will be Tuesday – Saturday from 32 – 40 hours per week. 

 

Hours will be discussed at the interview stage and will include some evenings until 9.15pm.

 

The responsibilities of this role include;

 

  • Delivering outstanding customer service and resolving customer issues.
  • Working with the Checkout Manager and other Supervisors to lead the Checkout team including providing feedback, coaching, and training.
  • Creating rosters to ensure the team are working efficiently as well as meeting customer needs
  • Working with the Checkout Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Checkout department.
  • Doing varying tasks which may include checkout operating, packing, managing Self-Checkout lanes, online concierge, Lotto, cleaning and trolleys.
  • Being in sole charge of the Checkout department and being responsible for opening and closing the Checkout department as required.

 

You will have the following attributes;

 

  • A minimum of one year's experience in a supermarket checkout supervising role or similar retail environment
  • High level of initiative and commitment
  • Solid computer skills including the ability to use spreadsheets
  • Well-developed time management skills
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Lotto Operators certificate (preferred)
  • Liquor Licence Controller Qualification
  • Liquor Manager’s Certificate
  • A commitment to excellent customer service
  • Great communication, leadership, and team-building skills
  • Flexibility to pick up extra shifts
  • Fantastic organisation and resilience
  • Good personal presentation

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but full training can be provided to the right person.
