At New World Centre City, we pride ourselves on delivering excellent customer experiences –friendly faces, stocked shelves and of course, fresh! We’re seeking a talented and passionate Produce Manager to join our management team and lead a large produce department.

 

About the role 

 

As our Produce Manager, you’ll take the lead in feeding the Dunedin Community with high-quality fruits and vegetables. You’ll play a key role in motivating your team to deliver excellent customer experiences, every day of the week. This is a hands-on leadership role with real impact.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Driving the day-to-day operational excellence of the Produce Department
  • Procurement, purchasing and inventory management of fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables
  • Leading, motivating and coaching team members
  • Maintaining a customer-first culture, leading by example and delivering excellent customer experiences.

 

Hours 

 

This is a Full-Time role. New World Centre City operates between 07:30am – 10:00pm, 7 days a week. Management, purchasing and/or production roles may operate outside of these hours. The specific hours will be discussed at the interview stage and will include a weekend day. 

 

What we are looking for:

 

  • Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on leadership style that builds team culture and inspires performance
  • Previous purchasing and inventory control experience, ideally within Produce or Supermarket
  • Computer literate, confident with SAP, data and reporting
  • Physically fit and ready for the demands of a busy store environment
  • Self-driven, able to determine and achieve personal and team goals

 

Desirable Qualifications / Certifications:

 

  • NZ Food Hygiene Qualifications
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Forklift Licence
  • Foodstuffs Leadership courses
