Assistant Grocery Manager / Duty Manager
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic manager to join the dynamic team at Cromwell New World.
Position Overview:
Main focus of the position is to assist the Manager with the planning, organizing and control of the dry grocery department to ensure that it runs efficiently and profitably. The position will require procurement of stock, merchandising and promotional activities. Presentation of products, workplace safety management and staff management will be key areas of performance.
Will be required to act as Duty Manager for the store from time to time and have the ability to make sound business decision, be decisive and customer focused.
Functional relationships will include Head Office Foodstuffs (South Island), all store management, Suppliers, Representatives, Customers, Contractors and Drivers.
Experience and requirements:
- Must be a NZ citizen or have permanent residency status.
- Proven leadership & organisational skills.
- Familiar with standards, concepts, practices and procedures within a dry grocery department.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Applicant must be computer literate with efficiency on MS Office, Outlook & SAP system.
- Sound accounting and mathematical skills required.
- Must have a good command of English, both verbal and written skills. Ongoing training will be provided in English.
- Extended working hours may be required from time to time.
- The working week will be from Sunday – Thursday (Friday & Saturday off) Some shifts will start at 6 am.
- The position requires a person that is physically fit as some heavy lifting and stacking will be required using a pallet jack.
- Decisive decisions making ability and demonstrates sound work ethics.
- Can manage and motivate a diverse team.
- A forklift license will be advantages but not essential.
