eCommerce Senior Business Analyst

Business Unit:  Foodstuffs South Island Limited
Job Type:  Full time
Job End Date:  14/05/2026

About the role:

As an eCommerce Senior Business Analyst, you will collaborate closely with retail, digital, and technology teams.

Acting as a critical conduit between business stakeholders, Product Owners, and delivery enablement teams, you will translate retail objectives into clear, actionable requirements that support the delivery of high‑quality digital solutions.

You will work across eCommerce platforms and end‑to‑end customer journeys, contributing to the broader retail digital transformation by enhancing capabilities, improving processes, and evolving ways of working. This position is well suited to a customer‑centric professional with strong commercial acumen and the ability to deliver meaningful outcomes within complex digital environments.

Key responsibilities:

  • Partner with retail, marketing, markets, and digital teams to understand business objectives and customer needs, shaping solutions that enhance the online shopping journey.
  • Gather, analyse, document, and validate functional and non‑functional requirements across e‑commerce platforms, including product catalogue, checkout, promotions, and loyalty.
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and working sessions to clarify requirements, refine scope, and support solution design.
  • Analyse current‑state processes and customer journeys, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to future‑state design and faster speed‑to‑market.
  • Support agile delivery activities by working closely with development and Quality Engineering teams to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and ensure solutions meet agreed outcomes.
  • Analyse online performance metrics (e.g. conversion, basket size, customer journey) to identify opportunities to optimise pricing, promotions, and product availability.

About you:

You’re an experienced Senior Business Analyst who brings a strong retail and customer‑centric mindset. You’re comfortable working with both business and technical teams and have a proven ability to translate complex needs into clear, practical solutions. Ideally you’ll also have:

  • Proven experience delivering digital or e‑commerce initiatives, ideally within a retail environment.
  • Strong capability in requirements gathering, documentation, and validation using modern business analysis techniques.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technical audiences.
  • A solid understanding of e‑commerce platforms, web technologies, UX principles, and digital analytics.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
