Warehouse Chef
About the role:
As a Chef within our Hornby Warehouse Cafeteria, you'll play a key role in preparing the food that fuels our busy warehouse operation each day. From breakfast favourites and cabinet offerings through to catering requests and fresh baking, your work will help create an experience our team looks forward to.
Reporting to the Head Chef, you'll take ownership of early morning preparation and help set the kitchen up for a successful day. This role will suit someone who enjoys variety, values their craft, and is comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare meals, baked goods, cabinet items, and catering requirements in line with daily demand.
- Present products to a high standard and keep displays replenished throughout service.
- Assist with deliveries, receipting, rotation activities, and ingredient availability.
- Maintain tidy workspaces and follow required food handling and storage practices.
- Provide support across the cafeteria, including customer-facing activities when required.
- Share ideas that contribute to new offerings, seasonal specials, and improved ways of working.
About you:
You're a capable chef who enjoys an early start and takes pride in producing food that is fresh, appealing, and well executed. Self-motivated and dependable, you're happy working autonomously and can manage competing priorities without compromising standards. Ideally, you’ll also bring:
- Experience as a Chef, Cook, Baker, or within a commercial food production environment.
- Confidence preparing a broad range of dishes, including baking from scratch.
- Understanding of dietary requirements, allergens, and nutritional considerations.
- Experience using kitchen systems, POS platforms, and ordering processes.
- Strong organisation skills and a practical approach to problem solving.
- A positive attitude, good communication skills, and willingness to pitch in where needed.
- Interest in learning, sharing knowledge, and contributing to an evolving food offering.
