Warehouse & Inventory Supervisor
About us:
Murdoch Food & Beverage is a wholly owned subsidiary of Foodstuffs South Island Ltd; manufacturing and packing a diverse range of food and beverage products for the retail and food service market nationally. Our operations are based across two Christchurch sites: a Dry Packing and Sauce Plants in Wigram and a Beverage Plant in Hornby – all supported by a team of around 50 people
About the role:
We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and an enthusiastic leader to drive the efficient warehouse & inventory operations at our Wigram site.
As a member of our operations leadership team, you will be performing in a hands-on role that would see you equally confident in coordinating and administrating inventory movements for the site, as you are working alongside the team in the warehouse environment.
Hours of work can be discussed in an interview, but this is a full-time day-shift role of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Your key accountabilities will include
- Promoting and supporting our strong workplace safety culture with all site staff, contractors and visitors
- Providing direction and leadership to the Warehouse & Inventory team; managing the flow of work to ensure resource is matched effectively with demand.
- Managing the flow of inventory on, off and across site; including oversight of daily delivery schedules and volumes.
- Ensure an organised and tidy environment to support the safe and effective storage and movement of all materials
- Supporting inventory management through ensuring effective stocktaking and control on site and with our contracted storage partners.
- Ensuring completion of all administration and documentation requirements for the department to meet business needs.
Our ideal applicant would have
- Previous team leadership experience, with the ability to guide and motivate others effectively in a busy environment
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in a warehousing environment within the food industry
- Full Driver’s License and current F- Endorsed OSH Forklift Certificate (or the ability to obtain one)
- Strong administration skills including experience in Microsoft applications, SAP and WMS systems
- Ability to think on their feet to meet competing deadlines during times of pressure
- Clear communication skills with the ability to work effectively with all people across the business.
- Willingness to step up and challenge both themselves and the business to drive continuous improvement.
While previous experience in a similar role would be preferable, if you have supervisory experience in a warehouse, manufacturing or process environment and can adapt your knowledge while learning new skills, we welcome your application.
