Retail Business Partner
About the role:
As a Retail Business Partner for our New World Brand, you’ll work alongside stores to strengthen performance across key areas. These include financial results, operational effectiveness and customer experience.
You’ll provide guidance and support to help New World stores achieve their business targets while maintaining high standards across the brand.
This is a hand – on, relationship-driven role where you’ll use data, systems knowledge and operational expertise to identify opportunities, influence change and support stores to continually improve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support stores with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to achieve EBITDA outcomes.
- Analyse SAP, sales, and operational data to identify trends and highlight improvement opportunities.
- Provide guidance on stock management, inventory processes, and system use to support accurate and efficient store operations.
- Assist in the optimisation of online shopping, workforce planning, and front‑of‑store execution to improve productivity.
- Contribute to the implementation of new systems, equipment, and store initiatives, including refurbishments and ownership transitions.
This role requires scheduled travel twice a month on average to the Tasman, West Coast and Southland regions. Travel can fluctuate depending on support required with refurbishments, projects and store openings.
About you:
You’ll be commercially aware and solutions focused while understanding the realities of working in a dynamic retail environment. You’ll be confident using data and insights to enable informed decision-making. Ideally, you’ll also bring:
- Experience in grocery retail, or a strong understanding of the commercial drivers within a retail environment.
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data and translate this into clear, practical actions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships while confidently challenging stakeholders when required.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on identifying opportunities and driving better outcomes.
- Exposure to SAP, stock management and online retail operations advantageous.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly across the South Island.
