About the role:

As a Planning & Communications Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the effective delivery of freight operations across the South Island.

Sitting within our wider Supply Chain team, you’ll support the optimisation of vehicle utilisation, manage delivery performance and ensure our member stores receive their goods on time.

Reporting to the Planning & Communications Lead, this is a hands-on role where priorities can shift to achieve our goal of feeding the South Island.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate primary and secondary freight movements across the South Island.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and proactively informing stakeholders of any delays, split orders or overflows to stores.
  • Work closely with internal teams, external carriers, and owner drivers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Utilise transport systems (SAP, TMS, eRoad, ecargo) to manage and track freight activity.
  • Conduct reporting on key operational KPIs
  • Identify and resolve issues quickly to minimise disruption and maintain service levels.

About you:

You’re a proactive coordinator who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You bring strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to complete tasks effectively, reliably and on time. Ideally you will also have:

  • Experience in supply chain, logistics, or transport operations.
  • Familiarity with SAP, TMS or similar transport systems.
  • Strong capability across Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • A high level of organisation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain trusting relationships with Supply Chain teams, stores and service providers.
