About the role:

As a People & Culture Advisor, you’ll support people leaders and Owner/Operators with practical, day‑to‑day HR and employment relations advice. A key part of this role is helping leaders feel supported and confident in their people leadership, through early conversations and practical guidance.

 

Alongside core advisory work, you’ll contribute to people‑focused projects aligned to the People & Capability Strategy, supporting continuous improvement in how we lead, support and engage our people.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide clear and practical advice across employment relations matters, including performance, investigations and disciplinary processes
  • Encourage early intervention by identifying risks and patterns across ER activity and partnering with leaders on preventative actions
  • Contribute to change initiatives with a strong focus on practical, people‑centred implementation
  • Support the ongoing improvement of HR policies, processes and practices to better support leaders and teams.

 

Reporting to the People & Culture Lead, you’ll join a supportive team focused on enabling strong leadership and positive employee experiences across the co‑op.

About you:

You'll be an experienced and confident People & Culture Advisor who understands the complexities of working within a large dynamic organisation – and if you’ve worked within a cooperative, that’s a bonus! You’ll also bring:

  • Strong knowledge of contemporary HR processes and a comprehensive understanding of New Zealand employment legislation
  • Demonstrated experience in providing guidance on performance management, ER, and investigations
  • Experience supporting and delivering People & Culture projects that improve people practices, leader capability, and the overall employee experience.\
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills and the ability to coach and influence people leaders
  • A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to use data and metrics to inform decision-making
