New World Durham Street is Christchurch’s newest supermarket experience, offering the latest in supermarket design and features and we are proudly locally owned and operated! We are looking for a dedicated and driven person with relevant experience to be an integral part of our high performing liquor department.


Reporting to the Liquor Manager, you will be helping to run a liquor department that has firmly established itself as a go-to for fine wine lovers as well as being the South Island’s premier craft beer destination known for its dynamic range, expansive offer, speed to market, innovation and unrivalled product expertise.


This role offers a great store culture, a high degree of responsibility as one of two full time people in the liquor department, supportive Owner/Operators and management team with lots of training opportunities for your development. This is also a fantastic opportunity to work in an industry with great job security and stability.


The days and hours for this position are: Tuesday-Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday 7.30am-4.30pm.


Your day to day:

  • Work alongside the Liquor Manager to organise and where required lead the daily operations of the liquor department
  • Ordering and procurement of stock on the weekend or in the absence of the Liquor Manager
  • Ensure the shop is presented to a very high standard at all times
  • Utilise SAP to its full capabilities to ensure stock flows smoothly from storeroom to shelf
  • Assist with the maintenance of departmental SAP KPIs
  • Engage and build positive relationships with suppliers, sales reps and merchandisers
  • Ensure you and your team are providing next level customer service
  • Continue to utilise and drive our social media platforms (Untappd, Instagram) to reach and communicate to our customers
  • Create a positive environment and culture for the rest of the team
