About the role:

As a Financial Accountant, you’ll play an important role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting across the Foodstuffs South Island co-operative.

 

Working closely with the Financial Reporting and Consolidation Lead and the wider finance team, you’ll contribute to the preparation of monthly and annual financial reporting while helping maintain strong financial controls and accurate financial records across the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assisting the preparation of monthly financial reports including analysing and explaining variances
  • Supporting the preparation of the annual financial report, including consolidation of FSSI entities and preparation of notes to the accounts
  • Preparation and filing of the Group’s monthly GST returns.
  • Maintaining accurate accrual accounting across consolidated accounts to minimise timing differences and budget variances
  • Preparing and reconciling general ledger accounts and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner

About you:

You’ll be a detail focused accounting professional who enjoys working with complex financial information and ensuring accuracy in reporting. You take a proactive approach to improving processes and enjoy collaborating with others to deliver strong financial outcomes. Ideally you’ll also have:

 

  • CA, CPA or other accredited accounting body certification
  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting (or equivalent)
  • Experience managing GST and tax reporting within a large or complex organisation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and investigate financial issues
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain financial information
  • Confidence working with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using SAP and OneStream preferred but not essential.
