CloudOps Specialist
About the role:
As a CloudOps Specialist you’ll support the building of reliable, observable and secure cloud and hybrid platforms that support thousands of people across the South Island every day.
This isn’t a ‘keep the lights on’ role. It’s about engineering platforms properly, using automation, Infrastructure as Code, and modern CloudOps practices so reliability doesn’t depend on heroics. You’ll work across cloud and on-prem environments, embedding operational excellence into everything we run.
You’ll partner closely with DevSecOps and Platform teams as part of a connected platform ecosystem, ensuring reliability, security and observability are built in, not bolted on.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and improve operational patterns across cloud and hybrid environments.
- Automate repetitive and high-risk processes to build resilience by design.
- Act as an escalation point for complex platform issues, resolving root causes rather than symptoms.
- Embed observability, security and reliability into platform engineering standards.
- Continuously improve platform performance, availability and operational maturity.
About you:
You’ll bring a strong engineering mindset and practical platform experience. You care about doing things properly and not just quickly. Ideally you’ll also have:
- Have hands on experience working with cloud and/or hybrid platforms
- Experience with AWS, GCP, Terraform, GitHub & Kubernetes
- Familiarity with VIBE and SPEC based development
- Enjoy solving operational challenges through automation and code
- Understand the importance of reliability, security and observability
- Thrive in collaborative technical environments
- Take ownership and proactively improve the platforms you support
