Halswell New World, located in Halswell Christchurch, is a dynamic and customer-focused supermarket dedicated to providing an exceptional shopping experience where people are at the heart of everything that we do. We have an exciting opportunity in our Checkout Department and we are looking for someone to join our leadership team as a Checkout Assistant Manager.

 

Position: Checkout Assistant Manager 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assist the Checkout Manager in the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring efficient and friendly service to all customers.
  • Provide a strong customer service focus, ensuring that customer needs are met promptly and professionally.
  • Manage the department in the Checkout Manager's absence.
  • Train, mentor, and support checkout staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
  • Manage customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor and manage cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all store policies and procedures, particularly those related to health and food safety.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordination of departments rosters
  • Duty Management including the responsibility for the sale and supply of liquor.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a retail or customer service environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • A proven record of training and success.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • A current Liquor Licence and First Aid certificate is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
