About the role


We are seeking an accountant to join our Accountancy Services Department at our Christchurch Office. 


The position is fulltime and ideally suited to candidates who are looking for an enjoyable and challenging working environment. This role has a focus on providing accounting support to our retail markets, as well as the usual compliance tasks.

 

Key Responsibilities of the role are to:

 

  • Complete any compliance work required for our retail markets. Including, but not limited to;
  • Annual Accounts preparation, Income Tax Return preparation, GST and FBT Return preparation
  • Conduct monthly General Ledger reviews for allocated retail markets, to ensure accuracy of Member Dashboard reporting.
  • Provide general assistance to our retail markets on accountancy matters, and support in relation to our accounting information systems, with a focus on our core system, SAP.
  • Undertake any other Project Work as required.
     

About you

 

The successful candidate will require:

 

  • A solid understanding of accounting fundamentals.  A tertiary qualification in accounting (or be near to completing) is desirable but not essential
  • Prior experience preparing Financial Statements, Income Tax, FBT and GST Returns
  • Experience with SAP (desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided) 
  • Experience using MYOB
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work both independently and within a team 
  • Self-motivation and a disciplined work style, with the ability to work within time constraints 
  • Focus and drive to provide top quality service 

 

Foodstuffs South Island Ltd has ATO (approved training organisation) status with the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
