PAK’nSAVE Blenheim is looking for a Head Baker to lead our fantastic Bakery team and take ownership of a busy, fresh and customer-focused department.
This is a great opportunity for someone who loves the Bakery, enjoys leading people and takes pride in delivering outstanding quality, freshness and presentation. You’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the department, including production planning, team development, food and workplace safety, customer service.
We’re looking for a leader who will be hands-on with the team, develop and mentor our people and apprentices, and continue looking for ways to improve what we do. Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for the daily operations of a Bakery Department
- Working closely alongside team to:
1. Ensure smooth and efficient workflows
2. Effective stock ordering and promotional planning
3. Ensure high standards for presentation, and product quality
You will have:
New Zealand recognised bakery NZQF Level 4 qualification or at least 3 years of relevant work experience
Qualifications & Experience Needed
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- NZ Food Hygiene qualifications, including NZQA Unit Standards 167 and 168
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and support a team of bakers, coordinating daily production and workloads to achieve high standards of quality, productivity and product availability.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build great relationships
- Proven experience in preparing, mixing, kneading, shaping, proving and baking bread doughs.
- Experience producing a range of bread loaves, rolls and other bread-based bakery products to a consistently high standard.
- Ability to follow recipes, production specifications and established bakery procedures accurately.
- Good understanding of dough development, fermentation, proving times and baking temperatures.
- Ability to operate commercial bakery equipment safely and effectively, including mixers, ovens, provers and other bakery machinery.
- Strong commitment to food safety, hygiene, cleaning and workplace health and safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume supermarket bakery environment while maintaining product quality and presentation.
- Must be reliable, physically capable and comfortable working early mornings, weekends and rostered shifts as required.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team, communicate well with colleagues and contribute positively to the day-to-day operation of the bakery.
Hours & Days
This is a permanent full-time role. Remuneration will be between $29-$36 per hours with a minimum of 40 hours a week. You will need to be available to work in weekends.
