New World Ashburton is looking for a Grocery Assistant Manager to help lead our high-performing Dry Goods departments. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, enjoys developing people, and takes pride in delivering an exceptional customer experience.
As Grocery Assistant Manager, you’ll support the Grocery Manager in running a customer-focused, well-organised, and commercially successful Dry Goods operation. You’ll help ensure smooth daily operations, maintain excellent merchandising and inventory standards, and foster a team culture where everyone matters.

- Strong leadership skills with the confidence to guide, support, and motivate a diverse team
- Proven ability to make clear, values‑driven decisions - especially in a fast‑paced environment
- High attention to detail across merchandising, stock management, paperwork, and compliance
- Reliability, integrity, and a proactive approach to daily operations and problem‑solving
- Clear, respectful communication and the ability to build positive relationships with staff and customers
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise effectively during busy trading periods
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling, stock movement, and hands‑on work
- Commitment to food safety, workplace safety, and maintaining a strong safety culture
- A growth mindset with willingness to learn, adapt, and take ownership of responsibilities
- A team‑focused attitude that contributes to a supportive, collaborative, and high‑performing department
Days & Hours of Work:
Sunday & Monday – 1:30pm to 10:00pm
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday – 10:30am to 7:00pm
